About Jinny

A world of cooking, connection, and creativity

Hello and welcome! I’m Jinny, your chef, food enthusiast, and guide to joyful cooking.
I love to cook, I love to cook with others, and I love to share what I’ve learned.

From ocean galleys to global kitchens

For over ten years, I sailed around the world as a high-end personal chef on luxury sailing yachts. That adventure took me across continents and cuisines. A time to explore - local markets, cooking with home chefs, and picking up flavours and techniques in every port.

As a yacht chef, you have to be ready for anything … if guests dream it up, you find a way to make it appear (often from the tiniest of galleys!). I thrived on that challenge and discovered a passion for mastering a wide range of cuisines.

Training and inspiration

Wherever we dropped anchor, I sought out fresh ideas — from the produce in local markets to dishes shared by fellow “yacht cheffies” and local chefs.

My formal training includes:

  • Intensive courses at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners (ICIF) in Piemonte, Italy

  • Sushi studies at the Japanese Institute in Los Angeles

  • Intense Yacht Chef training in Mallorca

  • Plus countless meals cooked and lessons learned from cooks, kitchens, and food traditions all over the world

Anchored on land — and cooking together

After years at sea, I’ve now anchored on land and found a new joy: bringing people together through fun, interactive cooking classes, whether that’s in the community, for businesses, or for private groups of friends and families.

Today, I run:

  • Public classes that anyone can sign up to - held regularly at Adlington Village Hall and other local venues

  • Community workshops that make cooking joyful and accessible for all

  • Team-building events for workplaces - held on-site, at holiday homes, or at a local Venue like Adlington Village Hall.

Cooking with Jinny

Cooking with Jinny” began during lockdown, when I moved my classes online. It became a special way to connect people, friends and families across the world, or even strangers who needed a little light, structure, and shared laughter.

Cooking with care

I’m passionate about mindful, sustainable cooking — reducing waste and avoiding single-use plastics. (A sail through the Pacific garbage patch left a lasting impression on me.)

In a world where life is busy, I love creating space to slow down, cook together, and rediscover the joy of good food. My classes are relaxed, inspiring, and flexible, giving you the confidence to be creative in your own kitchen.

I hope you’ll join me for a class soon!
